How to Save on Interview CostsTypically, the farther the school is away from you, you're looking to spend around $500 for each interview. If an interview was close to California, which is where I am from, I spent money on only plane tickets because I would go early in the morning and come back late at night. For schools that were in New York or Florida, I spent the night there. So, on top of plane tickets, I had to pay for hotel fees. When you're booking hotels, the trick is to find hotels that offer shuttles. That way you don't have to worry about renting a car. Some hotels unfortunately don't have shuttles, which in those case, you will have to rent a car. Schools usually have a deal with car rental agencies so that you can rent at a discounted price. Make sure to inquire of that while planning for interviews. I would suggest that you go to all your interviews because you can't really judge a school from reading information about them. You have to go and experience everything, talk to the students, professors and whatnot. You may be pleasantly surprised!
