The MCAT scoring scale is based on a total score of 45. The three sections (Physical Science, Verbal, Biological Science) are scored on an individual scale of 1-15. The writing section is scored from 1-6. The numerical scores are converted to alphabetical scores from J-T. The way that the scoring is broken down is as follows:

Scaled Score Mean= 8.8, standard Deviation=2.5 So the total score on the MCAT scoring scale including the writing score is 45T. These scores are the 2007 score profiles If you study these numbers, you'll see that there is a bell curve distribution to the MCAT scoring scales. This is done to make the MCAT a standardized test. I put these tables up so that you can realize what your scaled scores mean relative to other test takers. Don't take it too seriously, just use it for reference.
